Measure areas, lengths, and counts

Creates measurements on a drawing page. Quantities flow into the measurement sidebar and Estimate.

  1. Open the measurement sidebar.
  2. Create or select a group/folder so new measurements land in the right place.
  3. Search with Search measurements… when the list is long.
Tool How to draw
Draw Rectangle Click to start, click again to finish.
Draw Polygon Click to place points. Press Enter or click the origin to finish. Afterward, click a point to remove it or click a line to add a point. Right-click a vertex to convert it to an arc when needed.
Draw Circle Click center, click again to set radius.
Draw Length Click to place points. Press Enter or double-click to finish.
Draw Count Click to place count points. Press Enter to finish.

Default keybinds (customizable on Shortcuts / Keybinds): rectangle t, polygon r, circle e, length w, count (see Keybinds page).

Common edit actions:

  • Cut / Split polygon or rectangle
  • Add Count / Delete Count
  • Simplify Vertices
  • Combine Measurements — left-click one shape, right-click an overlapping shape in the same group, choose Combine
  • Delete selected measurements with Delete/Backspace, then confirm
  • Multi-select: hold Shift or Command and click measurements in the sidebar; hold Command and click on the page.
  • Highlight area: hold Shift, click and drag to select measurements in a region.
  • Zoom to a measurement: use Zoom To Measurement or double-click it in the sidebar.

Measurements appear on the page and in the sidebar with quantities. Estimate can consume those quantities.

  • Work in the correct group before drawing.
  • Confirm scale before large area takeoffs.
